All about the Colour Blue
Did you know most people make a useless form of colloidal silver?
We have tried for years to educate others that metallic particles of all metals are risky and also lack bio-availability, making a very weak medicine, which then tends to be taken in excessive doses, and thus side effects!
In a saline environment like the blood, the usual metallic silver colloid, made by many, has less then 0.01% bio-availability and high PPM, giving HIGH RISK - SMALL GAIN!
The proper type for consumption is ionic, as found in any soluable mineral, and thus high bio-availability so tiny doses are effective. HIGH GAIN - SMALL RISK!
It is the accumulation and growth of large silver salt crystals that cause the grey/blue color when activated by UV light. I know 3 women that also got a facial blue tint from excessive use of home made colloidal silver nasal sprays, estimated at over 100PPM metallic, based on its color and their time of operation in making it! (The typical (3) batteries and silver wire setup)
Too much of anything in the hands of the uninformed is risky!
Did you know as few as four (4) Extra Strength Tylenol have caused death in adults! Just 11 will kill the average person and far less will kill drinkers or drug users. Hospitals report many deaths in children and adults yearly!
Risk abounds in life but do not fear turning blue from ionic silver (unless you had been suckered into taking high PPM colored solutions for months) but recognize that there are both good and useless forms of silver!
Argyria
Argyria (from Greek: argyros) is a condition caused by the ingestion of elemental silver, silver dust or silver compounds. The most dramatic symptom of argyria is that the skin becomes blue or bluish-grey colored. Argyria may be found as generalized argyria or local argyria. Argyrosis is the corresponding condition related to the eye. The condition is believed to be permanent, but laser therapy may be helpful.
Since at least the early part of the 20th century, doctors have known that silver or silver compounds can cause some areas of the skin and other body tissues to turn gray or blue-gray. Argyria occurs in people who eat or breathe in silver over a long period (several months to many years). A single exposure to a silver compound may also cause silver to be deposited in the skin and in other parts of the body; however, this is not known to be harmful. It is likely that many exposures to silver are necessary to develop argyria. Once argyria develops, it is generally believed to be permanent.
Now, most of the reports you read or see on TV will not tell you the difference between silver products - the big one being the difference between colloidal and ionic. We can explain this using the human body.
Most human cells are roughly 20 µm, or microns, in width. Red blood cells are 7-9µm. One micron is equal to 1/1,000,000 of a meter. A single nanometer, which can contain up to 4.5 million silver ions, is 1/1000th the size of a micron. In the case of colloidal silver, it is solid particles (of silver) in a liquid (water). It is not in fact a suspension, as the definition of a suspension is particles larger then 1 micron (1,000 nanometers) while colloidal particles are defined as 1 nm to 1,000 nm and a solution (ions) is defined as particles less then 1 nm in diameter.
Blue Men
Stan Jones, a candidate in Montana for the US Senate, started taking homemade colloidal silver in 1999 using tapwater from his home in Seattle. He charged two silver wires with an electric current, and made his own concoction; unfortunately for him, the higher levels of minerals in tap water bonded with the silver, and the resulting mixture started to turn his skin blue. He didn't even know it was blue until he participated in a debate in 2002 - his blue is now permanant.
Paul Karason, also known as "Papa Smurf", has been drinking home kit colloidal silver for 14 years, and he also treated a skin condition on his face with a silver preparation. He credits the colloidal silver with easing his arthritis and helping with acid reflux. NBC's Dr. Nancy Snyderman believes his organs may in fact be blue too.
